The Little Bunny Who Shared
There once lived a little bunny by the name of Benny. Benny loves eating crunchy, sweet carrots more than anything.

One bright morning Benny’s mom had made carrots for his lunch.

Thank you, mom! Benny chirped happily.

As Benny hopping across a green meadow, Benny encountered a small mouse, by the name of Molly. Molly seemed very sad.

What’s wrong, Benny asked.

I forgot my lunch at home today, Molly told him with tears in her eyes.

Benny looked down at the carrot that he had. Benny really loved carrots but he remembered that his mom taught him that we must share with others.

Benny carefully snapped his carrot in two pieces.

Here, Molly. You can have half of mine. Benny gave his friend a piece of the carrot and Molly happily munch.

Thank you, Benny! Molly squeaked happily.

They then sat together and nibbled at the carrot under a big oak tree.

Later, on their walk Benny came across Timmy the turtle. Timmy was exhausted from his long morning walk and was very tired. Benny was carrying a bottle of water and offered Timmy some to drink.

Thank you, Benny, the turtle said with relief.

By the time Benny finally got back home, he had only a small piece of his carrot left. Still, he felt warm and contented.

That night, both Molly and Timmy stopped by Benny’s house. Molly had a juicy apple and Timmy brought some juicy berries.

They told him, we wanted to say thank you, Benny.

Benny giggled and gave them both a big hug. That night, Benny the bunny shared the apple, the berries, and his last tiny piece of carrot with his friends. By this time, everyone was full, satisfied and all were happily tired.

That night before he went to bed, Benny’s mom explained, Benny, kindness is like a tiny seed; if you share it, it will grow. Benny nodded and fell fast asleep with a smile on his face.

From that night on Benny learned that if you are kind to others, friendship will grow and they will be kind to you.

Share with others, if you know they are happy to receive it, and spread joy!

The Little Seed of Good Habits

Once, there was a happy boy called Ravi, who loved to play with his friends in a beautiful village. Ravi would play, climb trees, and run around the whole day. He did not have the habit of being good. Every morning his mother would always tell him to make his bed, brush his teeth, and make his room clean. However, Ravi never bothered to listen to his mother.

One day Ravi’s grandfather gave him a small seed. It was a very special seed according to his grandfather. “You have to water it every day, Ravi,” Grandfather told him. Ravi quickly planted the seed in the garden and started waiting for the plant to grow, but when Ravi went to see his seed the next morning, it had not grown much.

“Why is it not growing?” Ravi asked his grandfather. Grandfather replied, “It is because it requires your constant care. Water it every day; do not let the soil become dry; clear all the weeds, and make sure it gets plenty of sunshine.” Ravi followed all the instructions given by Grandfather. However, once it became very boring for Ravi, so he totally forgot to water the plant every day. Ravi did notice that after a week the plant did not look good; the soil was very dry and the plant was drying.

Ravi felt very bad and looked at his grandfather with a disappointed face. Grandfather then said, “Ravi, plants are like good habits. They require constant attention and care. Without them they cannot survive. If you always ignore these good habits they will dry and fade away.”

Ravi thought for a while, and understood that he had to change himself. Ravi went out to the garden and watered his plant every day. He made his bed, cleaned his room and always put his toys back in their place.

After a few weeks, Ravi was surprised to see that the plant was green and had grown quite tall. His room was very clean and his teachers would compliment him for coming to school on time and he used to finish his homework early because he prepared his bag the day before. Ravi’s parents were also very happy with his changed attitude.

A few months later, the plant had grown into a beautiful flowering plant. Its branches were covered with beautiful blossoms and butterflies often visited his plant. Ravi looked at his beautiful plant and knew that his constant efforts for its growth had made it so attractive.

His grandfather stood next to Ravi and said, “Ravi, why is this plant so beautiful?” Ravi replied, “Because I have given it my constant attention.” “Yes,” said Grandfather, “good habits are like the plants. When you practice them daily and with full attention, they will also grow into something very beautiful and make your life pleasant.” Ravi learned a valuable lesson from the little seed.

The Lantern in the Rain
It was a dark evening in a tiny village and it was raining cats and dogs. The entire village turned empty with the residents scurrying into their respective houses. Everyone remained inside except for an old woman named Meera.

Meera lived in a small hut on the outskirts of the village with no other inhabitants to support her. She was a kind and humble soul with a smile that lit up the room. Though she was a pauper, she always helped the ones who needed it.

That evening, she spotted a small, dim light flickering outside her window. Curious, she put on a shawl and stepped out in the rain. A few meters away she saw a young boy crying his heart out while sitting under a tree, cold and shivering.

Approaching him gently, she asked.

“Son, why are you sitting in the rain like this?”

The boy looked at her with watery eyes and replied, “My name is Arjun and I was traveling to the next village with my uncle but lost him in the market and don’t know how to find him.”

Meera’s heart felt for the boy and she took him to her hut. She changed his wet clothes with a dry one, gave him a warm blanket, and offered him a bowl of steaming vegetable soup.

Arjun smiled for the first time that evening.

The rain poured throughout the night. Meera placed an old lantern at her window.

“Why is the lantern at the window?” asked Arjun.

“For anyone looking for you, the light may help them find you,” said Meera.

Hours went by and the storm continued but the lantern kept on flickering.

Around midnight someone knocked at her door. On opening it, a drenched man asked her frantically, “Have you seen a young boy named Arjun?”

Arjun ran to the door, “Uncle!”

The man hugged him tightly with relief written on his face. “I searched for you everywhere and then saw this lantern as the only light in the rain.” He thanked Meera with a lot of emotion and said, “Thank you not only for taking care of Arjun but also for being the guiding light in helping me find him.”

Meera smiled and replied, “Sometimes a little light is enough.”

Years later, Arjun never forgot that night. He grew up being as compassionate as Meera. He became a teacher and often recounted the incident of the lantern to his students. When asked why kindness was important, he’d say, “Because you never know which darkness you’re lighting up with just one act of kindness.”

Meera’s lantern also remained in the villagers’ memory, as a symbol of hope, kindness, and love. It may have faded, but its memory continues to shine in everyone’s heart.

Moral of the story: Kindness is important, for a small act of kindness may act as a guiding light in a dark world.
